Help & FAQ
Everything people ask before trusting a number in Meridian. Still stuck? Email andrew@leanengineering.io and we'll reply within two business days.
- Is Meridian financial advice?
- No. Meridian is an educational planning tool. Every number is a deterministic projection based on the assumptions shown on screen, not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. Talk to a licensed professional before acting on a plan.
- How are the projections calculated?
- All math runs in plain JavaScript with explicit formulas — compound growth on your current savings plus monthly contributions, a safe-withdrawal-rate target for retirement, and simple totals for cash flow and net worth. The expected return, withdrawal rate and contribution limits are global variables your administrator controls in one place.
- What do I need to get started?
- The four-step intake: your age and target retirement age, monthly income and expenses, and rough totals for assets and debts. It takes a couple of minutes and everything can be changed later.
- How is my data protected?
- Your plan is stored in an encrypted database with row-level security, so only your account (and an advisor you explicitly link) can read it. You can export everything as JSON or permanently delete your account from Settings.
- What is the difference between the plans?
- Starter covers intake, dashboard and printable reports. Paid plans add budget variance alerts, unlimited goals, linked account balances and a higher daily allowance for the AI assistant. Full detail is on the pricing page.
- How do I upgrade, downgrade or cancel?
- Open Settings → Plan & billing. Request a change and it takes effect once approved; cancelling returns you to Starter and your data stays intact.
- Can my financial advisor see my plan?
- Only if you link to them. In Settings → Advisor link, paste your advisor's account ID. You can unlink at any time, which immediately revokes their access.
- The AI assistant stopped answering — why?
- Each plan has a daily question allowance (15 on Starter, 50 and 200 on paid plans). The counter resets every day at midnight UTC.
